Striving Towards Success at Your Own Pace

It should be no surprise that each child learns at his or her own pace. One of the major benefits of the Kumon Program is that children of all ages and abilities can benefit. Take Alik, a 14-year-old Kumon Student who was diagnosed as deaf at two months old. His perseverance led him to overcome challenges and complete the Kumon Reading Program in just two years. Anya, Age 11; Kalla Anand, Instructor

For an 11-year-old-girl, Anya already has an impressive resume. Among becoming a finalist at the North South Foundation’s Junior Spelling Bee in Maryland (2010), Anya also participated in the First Lego League (FLL) State Competitions (year). FLL is a robotics program aimed to excite children about science and technology while teaching valuable employment and life skills. 10-year-old James has many accomplishments to celebrate. He was recently featured on USASwimmer.org as a member of America’s Swim Team. At a recent swim meet, he ranked second in his age category. Melissa, 21 and Lavanya, 19 Instructor, Rita Jawaharlal

21-year-old Melissa Jawaharlal and 19-year-old Lavanya Jawaharlal are remarkable sisters who completed the Kumon Math and Reading Programs as high school students, and are currently on the fast track to becoming entrepreneurs in their first business venture.

Melissa, who was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Southern California, recently obtained her mechanical engineering degree. Lavanya is currently a mechanical engineering student at the University of California Berkeley. Both sisters share a passion for technology education and have been actively involved in school robotics programs for the past two years. Continue reading

3.10 Taban Success Story

 

At just 10 years old, Taban is celebrating publishing her very own children’s book titled “Cat Life – the Story of Kooch and Vafa.”

Taban’s love of reading and writing began after following her older brother’s footsteps and joining the Kumon Reading Program when she was just three years old. “She was looking forward to reading what her brother was reading and at times would actually eagerly read his worksheets,” says Taban’s mother Natasha.
